Virginia C. Hild, 94, of Leawood, Kansas, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555. E. Delaware, Benton Harbor, with Fr. Brian Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Virginia was born March 10, 1922 in Benton Harbor to Samual & Theresa (Buken) Long. She graduated from St. John’s High School, Class of 1940. On May 10, 1944, she married Frank Hild, II at St. John’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. Virginia was a stay at home wife and mother, devoting her time to her family. She cherished the time spent together. In her free time, Virginia enjoyed oil painting. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Virginia is survived by her husband Frank, Sr.; her children-Frank (Julie) Hild, Jr. of Lenexa, KS, Geoffrey (Pamela) Hild of Wyoming, MI, Barbara Wortman of Wyoming, MI; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son George Hild, her grandson Nathan Hild, her son-in-law Al Wortman, and two brothers-Samual & George Long.
