David Myers, 46, of St. Joseph, MI., passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 12 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with James Smith officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gift of Life or Hospice at Home. David was born January 18, 1970 in Benton Harbor to Richard & Linda (Whitaker) Myers. He graduated from Coloma High School in 1987, and then attended Lake Michigan College before deciding to proudly serve our country in the United States Marine Corps. David had a love for baseball, football, and basketball. He was avid Michigan fan and loved the Atlanta Braves baseball team. David was on the St. Joseph Legion Post 163 Traveling Baseball League where they won the state championship. He was known for being able to throw a fastball at 98 MPH and was scouted by five national leagues. Most of all, David loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his mother, Linda Myers; sons Tyler “TJ” James Myers and Jacob “Jake” Ryan Myers; brothers, Jon Myers & Brian Myers; special nephews, Evan, Joseph and Justin Myers; nieces & nephews, Brittany Myers, Alexis Myers and Adam Wheeler; cousins Joel & Scott Whitaker; great niece Willow Rae and his wonderful teammates on the Street Kids Baseball Team.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents, James & Juanita Whitaker and Rev. Floyd and Merlye Myers; father, Richard “Dick” Myers; favorite uncles, James “Whit” Whitaker, Jr. and Joe Postelli; and cousin Michael Carnell.
