Maxine Eubanks

Maxine Eubanks, 95, of Coloma, passed away, Saturday, June 11, 2016 surrounded by her family. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel with Mr. Rusty Stark officiating.  Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma Memorial donations may be made to the North Berrien Senior Center, Hospice at Home or Benton Harbor Church of Christ-Empire Ave.  Those wishing to sign Maxine’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Maxine was born September 3, 1920 in Campbell, Missouri to Robert & Sarah (Russ) Gholson. On July 9, 1944 she married Leon Eubanks in Cardwell, Missouri.  Maxine was employed as a beautician in Missouri before moving to Benton Harbor with her family.  Locally she was employed by VM Corp, and retired from Heath Company after nearly 16 years in 1982.  In retirement, she was employed as a courier for her daughter LaNora’s business-Superior Dental Lab.  Maxine was a life-long member and matriarch of Benton Harbor Church of Christ-Empire Ave.  In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting afghans & doilies, quilting & traveling.  She cherished the time spent with her family and many friends. Maxine is survived by her children-Phillip (Ellen) Eubanks of Goldsboro, NC, Alice (Robert) Baker of Watervliet, Phyllis (Barry) Baker of Coloma, LaNora (Randy) Lester of St. Joseph, Douglas (Lisa) Eubanks of Berrien Center; three grandchildren-Stacey Baker Perry of Watervliet, Nichol (Jason) Baker-Durr of Mishawaka, IN, Ryan Young of Greensburg, PA; six great-grandchildren-Alexis, Ashley & Sylvia Perry, Jonathan & Noah Durr & Dominick Young; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon on April 16, 1964.
