Russell's Obituary

Russell’s life began on March 17, 1919 in Marcellus, MI, the son of Joseph and Celeste (Shingledecker) Coy. He was united in marriage to Pauline (Nothdruft) Coy in 1940, then to Marjorie Helton Coy on April 23, 1954 in Dowagiac and she preceded him in death on August 27, 1997, then he was united in marriage to Martha (Parker-Cable) Coy on October 14, 1998 in Las Vegas. He was employed by Bendix Corporation for 32 years and had worked at James Heddon and Sons. He was a member of the Sebring Christian Church, and the Orchid Society of Sebring. He enjoyed growing orchids, learning to play the organ and oil painting. His loving family includes his wife Martha Coy of Sebring, FL, his children Linda (Bob) Prell of Battle Creek, Larry (Evelyn) Coy of Battle Creek, step daughter Pat (Joe) Rohacs of Dowagiac, and daughter in law Jeanette Coy of Dowagiac, 15 grandchildren, and many great and great great grandchildren. Russell passed away on December 30, 2011 at Hope Hospice in Sebring. He is preceded in death by ex-wife Pauline and wife Marjorie, his son Don Coy, a brother Joseph Coy and a sister Gladys Brast. His family will gather with friends on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Jon DenHouter of First Christian Church, Dowagiac. He will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
