Ingeborg Johanna Hewitt

Ingeborg “Inge” Hewitt, 91, of Benton Harbor, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Southwest Michigan, 5400 S. Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Inge was born on June 9, 1927, in Vienna, Austria to Otto and Ida Wawra. She married William Hewitt in 1946 in Vienna. The two were happily married for nearly 55 years until he passed away in 2001. Inge enjoyed playing bridge, working on crossword puzzles and sewing. She also loved being outside watching the birds and tending to her flower garden. She was a fan of The Detroit Red Wings and a proud member of The D.A.N. K. and Eastern Stars. Inge is survived by her children, Karin (Robert) Miller of St. Joseph, Eric (Michaela) Hewitt of Luxemburg, and Marc (Kirsten) Hewitt of Coloma; grandchildren, Rachel, Bridget, Jonathon, Sandrine, Rodney, Jillynne, Sage and Carmen; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
