Bobbie's Obituary
Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Kettlehut, a lifelong resident of Berrien Springs, MI, passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born on July 1, 1930 to her parents, Wade and Gladys Eidson.
Bobbie's journey was one of remarkable resilience, firmly rooted in her family's farm, where she resided for over seven decades, raising her family and working the land as they produced & sold peaches, asparagus & grapes over the many years. She was a devoted wife to her late husband William “Bill” for 61 years and mother of 7 children. One of the defining passions of Bobbie's life was her love for John Deere tractors, a passion she shared with her husband, Bill. Together, they were founding members of the Michiana 2 Cylinder Club, and for decades they lovingly sought out and restored these antique tractors. Fervent lovers of the 4th of July, they enjoyed showcasing their beautifully restored tractors in local parades. Their shared enthusiasm for these projects brought joy to their lives and the community.
She long loved and admired her Aunt Hazel who sparked her passion for genealogy. Bobbie spent countless hours tirelessly researching her family's history and the rich heritage of Berrien Springs, Michigan. She also enjoyed helping others in their own quest for information. The information she helped gather will be cherished for generations to come. Bobbie adored riding around the farm on her gator enjoying the flowers, especially peonies, and catching a glimpse of the many hummingbirds. Family time at the farm always included her legendary potato salad and the grandchildren tearing around the vineyard on the 3-wheeler. Bobbie was a dedicated Michigan State Spartans football fan and also enjoyed baseball and auto racing.
Bobbie's surviving family includes her children: Barbara (George, deceased) John, Thomas Kettlehut, Michael (Connie) Kettlehut, Betty (Frank) Yankovich, Dale (Tammy) Kettlehut; grandchildren: Eli (Heather), Amanda (Slavo), George (Deanna), Kevin (Cindy), Emily (Mark), Matt (Wendy), Doug (Laura), Kristy (Charles), Emily (Mark), Matt (Wendy), Sarah; numerous great-grandchildren and niece Rosalie Kimmerly. Her sons James & Richard and sisters Mary Lee & Eldonna preceded her in death.
In accordance with her wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. Bobbie's memory will live on in all those who were privileged to know her. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com.
