Mabel's Obituary
Mabel Marie Wake, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at North Shore Memorial Gardens in Coloma. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army or Caring Circle Hospice. Mabel was born on September 3, 1932, to James & May (Dearuff) Burtchett in Willow Springs, MO. On February 26, 1950, Mabel married the love of her life, Ernest T. Wake. The two were happily married for 68 years before his passing in 2018. Together the two made a beautiful family consisting of them and three children. Over the years, their small family would grow to include eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mabel’s fondest moments were when she was spending time with her family which she loved dearly.
Mabel is survived by her children, Ernie (Tina) Wake & Rose Coble; Brother-in-Law Jim (Jeanne) Wake, grandchildren, Sarah Wake, Ben (Diana) Wake, Christine (Jeff) Luebcke, Dana (Brian) Morris, Mark Coble, Corey Carolla, Brandi Spaniola and Jenna (Chris) Alisch; twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James & May Burtchett; husband, Ernest Wake; and daughter Debbie Bearden.
