I am so sorry to hear about Nick’s passing. I worked with Nick at the clothing store, Bowman’s, in St. Joe. He was always such a kind, happy man with a huge heart. He put a smile on everyone’s face. I am thankful to have known him. My prayers go out to his family.

I just heard about Nick’s passing and was so saddened by the news. He was such a good and kind man and always had a smile on his face. Nick worked for me at my clothing store in the 1980’s, then after closing I always enjoyed seeing him at D&W and Martins. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Our family has known Nick for many years, our children having worked at D&W during their high school years. Nick knew all seven of them and encouraged them on. For the time that Nick was at West Woods I had the privilege of his attendance at our Bible Study/Hymn Study each Thursday, usually accompanied by his dear wife who came early just to make our 9:45 a.m. class. Nick professed his faith in Jesus with certainty and his hope of heaven through Him with joy. My wife, children (all now grown), and I count it a blessing to have known Nick. Nick was by far the sweetest kindest person we have ever met..Heaven gained an angel and the world lost an example of love and kindness. Jim and Toni Hardin

I truly enjoyed the time I got to spend with Nick when he came to Harbor House Adult Day Services. He always had a smile and a quick wit. He will be missed by the gang at H.H. but we are all richer for having had him in our lives! 😇😇❤❤

God bless you all. He was a great person and a loving Christian who lived his faith. I remember his Mother and how he liked going to the Red Rooster in St. Joseph. His infectious attitude and smile always brightened even the worst of days.

There was no one we enjoyed being around more than Nick State. He was always positive, outgoing and sincere. He will be missed. The comforting thought at this time is that he has gone to a better place. We look forward to a reunion with him in the future. Grieve and weep over his passing. And may you eventually find comfort and peace. Our sympathy to you Dar and Nick's family.

The SJHS class of 1955 extend our deepest sympathy to Nick's family. Nick was special, a unique class all his own, a friend to all. The 1955 yearbook listed him as "Best Personality". Indeed, that was true right up to his last days. God's blessings to all who grieve.

Our deepest condolences to Dar State & family. Nick will be missed by so many. His smile always brightened up a room and wherever he worked or was. We were one of the many that would stand in line to have our groceries bagged by Nick. 😍 He loved also the Berrien County Youth Fair where we met last summer in 2019 ... see below photo

Yep, Nick carried with him his warm and friendly self every where he went. He was like a brother to me as well as others who knew him by our "Red Garter Days". Recently as 2009, he would always ask my Daughter about me when they ran into each other at Church.(Fair Plain Baptist Church)

I just looked this weekend in the Martin’s ad because they listed the years employees had worked there to see if Nick’s name was in there and then tonight I see he has passed. He was such a kind, gentle, and wonderful man. I only knew Nick from D &W and Martin’s and since I haven’t been to the St. Joe store in a while I had missed him. He will have a special place in Heaven because of the wonderful human being He was. Prayers for the family, Rest In Peace, Nick🙏🙏 Looking forward to seeing you again🙏💔😢 God Bless

Dear Dar, I am so sorry for your loss. Nick was a wonderful guy to be around. I will always remember when you took him to see my dad with sometimes bringing breakfast for dad from McDonald's and then dad taking him to work. I'm really liked to be around him. May the Lord comfort you as you remember the memories. Always remember that he's never really gone as long as you remember him. Christina Nails
