Howard's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Howard here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
I have so many fond memories of Howie and time spent with the Ehmans and the Adamses. What a beautiful tribute to Howie. He was a very talented craftsman indeed (thinking Mom's genes shown through here :)) and a gentle, caring person. I know he will be missed by all whose lives he touched. My prayers for the entire family remain steadfast in the coming days and months. I love this picture of him. It so captures him and his beautiful smile.

Dear Adams Family,
Warren and I were so sorry to hear of Howie's passing. We pray you are comforted knowing he is where there is no pain or tears...only joy. We remember the saddle rack project that he spear headed for our 4-H club. He was so very talented and giving. Please accept our sympathy. Warren and Sandra Backus

I will always remember Howie as a fun and energetic friend. Sadly, we lost touch as adults but I have so many great memories as kids through High School. I was always in awe of his great woodworking abilities. My condolences to all of you on your loss of Howie. Dennis Boehm

Mary and I are saddened to learn of Howie’s passing. He was such a nice man. We have been “beach neighbors” for many years now. We alway enjoyed chatting with him (and his dog) when we met him on walks or bike rides. Our neighborhood will miss him. Our thoughts are with you, Kelly.

Dear Mary,
I was so stunned to hear of Howie's death. I know you are beyond devastated. I remember the stories you told of your children back when we both taught at Brown School. I am so sorry that you have lost your son. Your memories of him will stay with you all your days, and based on his obituary, they will be wonderful memories.

When my sister in California informed me yesterday of Howie's death I was lying down at the time, oh my goodness, what a shock. Howie was a co worker and friend, one of the finest, truest honest to goodness best people I have ever known.
May his wonderful family and innumerable friends find comfort in knowledge that he is in the arms of Gods Angels bathed in His holy light in heaven.
So very saddened by this. Ted Ziehmer

I was so shocked to hear of this news about my friend Howard---my deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers go out for all of Howard's family. Howard was in my graduating Class of 1977 however, he moved from the St.Joe area while still in the 10th grade. I did not know Howard well during my school years. It wasn't until many years later around the year 2000 or so that I ran into Howard and his wife Kelly through a mutual friend and he came to a few of our St.Joe Class Reunions. During that time and over the years he was instrumental in referring me with some of his home clients along the Lake Michigan shoreline for the type of work I provided. Howard and Kelly were always kind towards me. And though I live 70 miles away from the St.Joe area, and if I was treating their house on a particular day, they always inviting me inside to talk for a while. He was always interested and asking me questions about my trade---and he always made me laugh. From time to time over the years I would run into Howard at a mutual client's house----he was an awesome artistic carpenter!!! Also, on several occasions I would usually share to Howard and his wife about the love of the Lord towards them. Life is short and precious.....God loves us all---everyone! John 3:16,17

My heart is so heavy with the news of Howie's passing. Growing up with Adams family as our neighbors was one of the highlights of my youth. From babysitting, swimming in the pool and watching them play sports with my brothers. Chuck and Mary did an amazing job of raising their crew and probably had a hand in raising us too! Howie will be missed by all he came in contact with. May God bless and comfort all of you, with love and fond memories. Krist Wolff Buursma
