I remember fondly working with Connie while she taught the “ little ones “ to dance. She had a gift for working with people, as well as, being a good dance instructor! She will be greatly missed.

Connie was my dance teacher, tap and ballet, for years when I was growing up. She was so kind and wonderful! When I was at SJHS, she was the choreographer for the Variety Show and the musicals and again I was fortunate to have her in my life. Connie was so very talented! I wrote her several years ago and received the nicest response that I had made her day. What a legacy she has left behind for her family. Rest in peace dear lady.

We attended the Great Lakes Greyhound Gatherings when they were up and running. We met Connie the first year we attended and we knew she was a special person. Always smiling and having an outgoing personality with everyone. Never a dull moment when Connie was close by. She was a good friend of the greys. Cammie, we offer our sympathy on the loss of your mother. We are pretty sure she stopped by the Rainbow Bridge, picked up a bunch of hounds, and crossed the bridge with them. We will miss her.

Connie had the misfortune of coaching me in several school musicals and variety shows. I was also in Bob Brown’s band so on more than one occasion she would need to remind me to stop marching and start dancing. Her patience with a smile, and coaching the un-coachable won’t ever be forgotten.

During my time as a resident of St Joseph, I knew of Connie only by her incredible reputation. It wasn't until many years late, when I participated in the St Joseph High School Foundation "Encore" fundraising shows, that I really got a chance to know her at all personally.
She was such a terrific lady--creative, passionate, and helpful. She always had a kind word to share, and always had a smile on her face.
One of my most touching memories of her was when she and her family performed a dance number in Encore 2018. She was as sprite as ever, lending her lean grace to the dance, and so happy to be part of such a wonderful production.
She will be forever missed. Rest in Peace, near friend!
Our thoughts and prayer go out to her entire family.

I have such fond memories of dance classes at Miss Connie's! It was a constant in my childhood schedule from elementary all the way through high school. It was the only exercise I enjoyed :-) And Miss Cammie was such a kind and patient teacher. I looked forward to our recitals all year and was giddy with excitement when our new costumes were revealed. Here is a photo hung in our family home of my sister and I before a recital. May you dance all day in heaven, Miss Connie :-) Much love to Cami and the rest of her family. Emily (Hopp) Gibiec & Melissa (Hopp) Roch

So sorry to hear of Connie's passing. We were able to visit one day when my granddaughter was having a lesson, I brought a. Program I had found in my mom's home after she passed. It was from my first dance recital when she was with Ross Mc Dowell just before he left for the service. Had him again later as an instructor. She enjoyed the photos and seeing the memorabilia. Was a very special moment for me. She touched so many people's lives in her time on earth, such a special lady. My sympathies Elizabeth Phillips- Litke.

Connie Cassidy was my first dance teacher, and I am now 60 having worked in dance my entire life and I continue. I am completely indebted to her for setting me on the true path of dance. She brought sunshine, she understood what it meant to perform, she loved her students and pushed them as far as they go and many of us are still going. St Joe has lost a daughter and a treasure. Connie showed that dance was an expression of the spirit, and hers was shining bright. I am so sad to hear of her passing. It marks an era.

I started dance class with Ross the first year we moved here from Indiana. When he stopped teaching, I changed over to Miss Connie. I took dance from her from the time I was six until I started high school. I will never forget her. She was perhaps my first strong female mentor. Her studio in the basement on Willa was a whirlwind of dancers, but she always made time to talk and make you feel like you were her favorite - she had a lot of them. She put together our recital costumes from scratch - none of the pre-bought expensive costumes - somehow realizing that no everyone could afford them. They were still special. When my daughter started dance class - I made sure she went to Miss Connie. She was an asset to this community and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
