Mrs Averill was a favorite neighbor. I loved her garden and sat in some adult ed classes with her that Ron Willging lead. She was such a nice person.

My family and I met Joanne about 15 years ago on Halloween night. She was outside sitting in a chair wrapped up in a blanket, buried in leaves and handing out candy. She made conversation commenting on the kid's costumes and introduced herself. I made the comment that she had to be outside because of all the drifting leaves up to the front door. Kiddingly, I mentioned that I can take care of those leaves and she took me up on it. This was the start of a wonderful relationship. I performed lots of yard work for her over the years and we had many conversations talking about each other's families on what was going on. Her front door was always open and always welcoming visitors. I used to kid her about watching the Packers instead of the Bears- she watched the Packers because she liked the color of the uniform. Needless to say, she liked the Wolverine's uniform as well.
Joanne will be missed and what a blessing she able to be home to be cared for.
Averill Family,
Please accept our condolences for your loss and celebrate the memories of her life,
Jeff (Beth) Wolf and Family

What a beautiful tribute to your mother. She was such a beautiful woman, inside and out, and we always enjoyed visiting with her when she took her walks on Valley View. The castle that Glenn contracted to be built was such a beautiful gift to her. I'm sure she is smiling down on your families from the top of her favorite castle.

Joanne had an energy and excitement that was infectious to everyone. She had a thirst for knowledge that was expressed in a broad spectrum of subject matter. She wanted to help with the rebuilding of the Congregational church that led to her study of architecture and eventually becoming a surrogate general contractor on the project. She was no a passive observer or an ivory tower thinker. She was a doer. She was a wonderful Aunt and we had many family parties around their swimming pool which all of the cousins helped to build. We have so many fond family memories of being together at Aunt Joanne and Uncle Charle’s home.
