I've known pop Harris since I was a little girl. He and my dad, Leon Stewart, were quite the pair, lol. Amongst others, I considered him to be one of my community dads. I could never get anything past him for nothing, lol. He was the most kindest person one could encounter. My children also had the pleasure to become acquainted with him as well. They too couldn't get anything past him either. They stayed in trouble for sneaking into his blueberry field swiping his blueberries. After I moved, I really missed seeing him walk down 76th street. He would always stop to chat for a few minutes. He'd mainly stop to make sure I was being good and staying out of trouble. I have never known pop to be anything but fun to be around. I will truly miss him. However, I know he's in heaven now catching up with all of his friends and family who have gone to heaven before him. Though I will not be able to attend his home going, I will be there in heart. Momma Jean, our dads are together once again. May God bless you and your family. I love you all very much. Mr. Harris, I want to thank you for allowing us to make a home here in Covert. Our girls are feeling the land with laughter. The blueberries are being tended. You created a legacy. You are loved. Your old neighbors speak highly of you. You will be missed. One of your children is our neighbor and we will keep an eye on her down here as I am sure you will keep an eye on all your family up there. Your life will continue to be celebrated. That is a legacy. Also there will be chess games on the landing.

My most sincere condolences offered to Randall’s family for their loss and especially to Jeanmarie who I have come to know and appreciate. Randall and I played very competitive tennis for years in Covert. My only regret is he defeated me repeatedly while he was twenty years my senior. Not only was he my tennis partner, he was my neighbor and friend. I recall and admired the way he cared for his wife, who was bedridden with a debilitating illness. Farewell my friend and I look forward to seeing you on the other side of this brief life.
