Gary was the gentlest, kindest person I ever knew. As a lawyer, he exhibited the best in the profession: peacemaking, civility and empathy. He was a model for a young lawyer like me starting out those many years ago. He always had a smile and could lighten the mood with a joke or two. My condolences to his family and all who were close to him, he will be missed.

We had the good fortune to have had Gary Hosbein coach two of our daughters at Lakeshore. He not only taught them basketball, but kindness, compassion and integrity. He was a great coach and a great man.

Dear Barb and family, Bob and I, along with my parents and all of my sisters, as well as my high school basketball team were so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was an amazing human being who brought joy to everyone around him. His smile would light up a room. I was honored to first get to know Gary as an LMC basketball coach. He was always so positive and encouraging. He made the game even more fun to play. He will be greatly missed by our whole community. I am certain that heaven is a brighter, happier place with him there. We will keep you all in our prayers. Sending you all much love and hugs.

Dear Barb and Family, Leslie and I are so sorry for your loss. Gary's passing is also a loss for the whole community. We didn't often cross paths legally, but when we did it was a pleasure to work with a true gentlemen. When we met casually he always had a good word. Our daughters knew each other well. That is how I knew he was good father. Our town and legal community are lesser for the loss of Gary. With deepest sympathies, Mark & Leslie Miller

our hearts are heavy hearing of the passing of Gary Hosbein. We loved seeing Gary on his porch durung summer months, waving at all who passed by. His smile lit up any room and to hear his laughter always brought joy. i can picture Gary as he entered Heaven on two very strong legs as he shouted with uplifted arms "I'm here"!!! Until we meet again, RIP Gary.

I first met Gary when I was a rookie police officer in the late '70s or early '80s. Not only was he one of the best attorneys I've ever met, we also became good friends. I don't know if one person had ever said a bad word about him. He stood up for his clients but at the same time had respect for law enforcement. This is a great lost for everyone.

My heart goes out to you Barb, and your wonderful family. When I think of Gary, the word CHARACTER comes to mind. Never met anyone that was more caring, honorable, or with more integrity. His word was his bond. And he was a ‘character’…bubbly, full of life, unusual, excited and exciting ! His friendship was a real blessing in my life.

If I had to name the top 10 people in my life who I’ve been blessed to call my friend, Gary would definitely be on my list. Our friendship began in 1973 when I started working at his law firm. It didn’t take long to realize what a gem of a person he was … kind, generous, compassionate, and oh so much fun to be around. Oftentimes, he extended office hours across the street to The Cove for a couple drinks where his joke telling, quick wit and big laugh came into play. My heart has been so heavy since I learned of Gary’s passing. He was such a wonderful friend who I truly loved. My deepest sympathies to Barb, his children, grandchildren and all who loved him deeply. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

I had the privilege of knowing Gary for 40+ years. In 1982, while I was working as a Three Oaks police officer, he invited me to his annual Blossom Parade Party at his Main street office. Over the years he has provided me with legal advice, personal counsel, loving kindness. and a very special, meaningful friendship. He taught me more about human compassion than any other person. I miss him dearly.

Dear Barb, Gordon and Girls—I was so sorry to learn of Gary’s passing. When I arrived in the Twin Cities to start practicing he had already been at it for several months and he “showed me the ropes” and how to get around in the courthouse. He was my mentor and we used to go to court together in his Ford Torino. I am fortunate to have worked with him. I won’t be able to attend the service because I will be out of town. We all lost a great guy.
