Paul Bettig, 95, of Benton Harbor, Mi. passed into the loving arms of his Lord and
and Savior on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, 245 Napier Ave., Benton Harbor, with Rev. Dan Golladay officiating. Friends may visit with the family beginning 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph immediately following the service. Paul was born February 22, 1928 in Zylza, Ukraine to Robert and Matrona Bettig. He
was drafted into the German army at age 16. In September1950 he married Hildegard
Galonska in Germany. In February 1961 they immigrated to America with their two
children. He was a licensed building contractor, also working for Bendix/Bosch retiring after 28 years. Paul was associate chaplain at the Berrien County Jail for many years with Reach the Forgotten, (formerly Forgotten Man Ministries). He was a faithful, hard-working member of the Napier Parkview Baptist Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed doing his yard work and sharing his garden vegetables with family and friends.
In 2002 he married Shima Denton.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Johnson of Gladwin Mi. and son Rick Bettig of London, England, stepchildren Clyde Denton and Kathren Burger. He is also survived by sister Maria Schultz, brothers Erich (Linda), Heinrich (Connie) and Peter (Carole) 7 Grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by wife Hildegard, second wife Shima, sisters Helen
and Nina, brothers John, Alex, and Val, two stepchildren Frank and Mike.
In lieu of flowers donations in Paul’s name may be made to Napier Parkview Baptist Church or Reach The Forgotten. Paul’s funeral service will be streamed at napierchurch.org/service-stream.
