Dear Kay and Family, I was sorry to read about the loss of Tom. He and my mom, Eloris, were cousins and he was a favorite of hers. I remember him coming to my mom's 90th birthday party six years ago and everyone in the Mielke/Kolberg family were glad to see him including his Aunt Marion who was here for that party. He was a friendly and wonderful person. I send you my sympathy.

Tom was one of the best men I ever knew. Met him at the bowling alley. He was the sweetest man and always gave you a hard time with a smile. He is going to be missed by many. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Tom Mielke was an incredible dad (his awesome kids being the evidence) and a first-rate neighbor. I treasure the memories of backyard baseball, softball and "socker," a game that I think Tom may have invented (a kickball -like sport where you ran bases after punching a ball) games in which he frequently participated. He had this amazing trick softball pitch in which he faked throwing it underhand, came around full-tilt and somehow released it on the way back around, over his head. It thrilled and amused us. A great guy: Am proud to have known him. Thinking of all the Mielkes today.

Dearest Kay and all of the Mielke family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. We will always have such fond memories of Tom. In particular his advice to always have fresh flowers on the windowsill for your wife, how to bowl a better game, and to always enjoy that drink with your friends. He was such a kind and loving man and we will miss him.

My heart is sad alongside the hearts of the Mielke family tonight. Tom coached me as kid playing baseball and became a teammate on our slow pitch softball team. He was always a friend. I'm blessed to know all his children. Tom's good mood always improved my day. The town of South Haven is a little less bright tonight. Rest in piece Tom
